ABOUT THE CLASS

This class is like none you've ever taken.

If you drive a car, enjoy the occasional outdoor adventure, do yard work, or simply leave your home on a regular basis, this class is made for you.

This one day, 8-hour offering was created specifically to address the most common traumatic injuries and emergency situations everyday citizens face. Real World Trauma will cover a wide range of topics including tourniquet selection, bleeding control techniques, airway and respiratory injuries, trauma kit components, CPR, vehicle crash characteristics, seatbelt cutting and vehicle glass breaking and many more. All training modules include specific hands-on skills exercises designed to tailor professional techniques to a civilian “everyday” context.

In Real World Trauma, we drive home the understanding that EVERYONE can develop these skills to positively impact the outcome of emergencies and traumatic injury. We bridge the gap from the teachings of the EMS and “tactical” worlds to something more applicable to the everyday citizen. 

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Jonathan Willis is the creator and lead instructor of Real-World Trauma, a staff instructor at the Tactical Defense Institute, and lead instructor of shotgun and trauma/medical programming with Gunset Training Group. He is a veteran of the United States Navy and spent 20 years as professional Firefighter/Paramedic Lieutenant. When not training or teaching, Jonathan runs a thriving real estate investing company with his business partner in Ohio.

Jonathan has trained with many leading training groups throughout the country including Tactical Defense Institute, Active Response Training, Rangemaster, Apache Solutions, CSAT, VIGR Training, 360 Performance, Wartac, Handgun Combatives, Modern Samurai Project, Tactical Skills Development, Sentinel Concepts, among others. Jonathan’s Instructional background includes various disciplines including Vehicle Extrication, Swiftwater Rescue, Incident Response to Terrorist Bombing, Active Shooter EMS Integrated Response, Planning and Response to Suicide Bombing, Basic Trauma Life Support, Advance Cardiac Life Support and many others. His certifications in defensive disciplines include Defensive Pistol, Tactical Shotgun, Defensive Carbine, Pistol Caliber Carbine, Close Quarters Pistol, Active Shooter Response, Vehicle Combatives, Snubby Revolver, Precision Rifle, Rogers System Reactive Shooting, Extreme Close Quarters, and Knife Skills for Concealed Carry.

Jonathan resides in Southwestern Ohio with his wife, a son, and their cat Birdie. Their second son is presently serving (active duty) in the United States Air Force.
